Find a home with new Housing In Southampton web site
A new web site to help people from minority groups find somewhere to live in Southampton is being officially launched on Wednesday, 7 May at Café Mumbai, in Southampton. The web site, which gives details of everything from how to rent a home to where to find housing support, has been set up by the Southampton Affordable Housing Partnership and Southampton’s Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) Housing Steering Group. There’s also a downloadable information pack, created by Southampton’s New Communities Team, which helps people with everything from getting a job, to finding a child a place at a local school. The web site has been created after research showed that new people moving into the Southampton area, particularly those from black and minority ethnic communities didn’t have a clear idea of where to get help. The new site can be instantly translated in 12 different languages including Arabic, Chinese, and Portuguese. All the information can be found at www.HousingInSouthampton.com Robert Nagy , who came to Southampton from Hungary and is now a member of the group who set up the site, said: “HousingInSouthampton.com is an excellent tool to find out more about housing. “Someone like me who came to Southampton two years ago, didn’t know where to go, where to look and who to ask about housing in Southampton. “This is why I think this new web site will be helpful for people who are thinking of settling down in the south of Hampshire, specifically in Southampton. “It’s a great online help, which pulls together all your questions and answers in one place.”
