Residents celebrate new homes at Pucklechurch

Sovereign Housing Association Limited (SHA) was set up in 1989 after taking the transfer of 7,109 properties from the then Newbury District Council. Since then we have grown and spread and now own and manage more than 11,500 homes in the south and south west of England.

Today, we are one of the best-run social landlords in the country, according to the Audit Commission.

We mainly provide general family accommodation for rent. We also manage 25 sheltered housing schemes, offering about 900 homes for older people. We also have a portfolio of more than 2,200 homes for leaseholders and shared owners (homes for part-rent and part-sale).

In April 2005, SHA formed a new group structure, to allow us to grow and form partnerships with other organisations. Sovereign Housing Association is now part of the Sovereign Housing Group. Another housing association, Twynham Housing Association, also joined the group in April 2005, and Vale Housing Association then joined in April 2007.
