South East Regional Housing Board visits
Carnarvon Place
On 5 September the South East Regional Housing Board visited the Group’s new head office in Newbury for their latest board meeting. On the day members, including Ann Santry, Sovereign’s Chief Executive, discussed various strategic issues, including demographic trends in the region and the impact on providing housing for older people in the future. As part of their visit, members went on a tour of Carnarvon Place, Sovereign's flagship new apartments for older people in Newbury, to see what new sheltered housing provision can look like, and to meet residents of the scheme. Members commented on how impressed they were by the space and environmental standards of the scheme and how positive residents were about their new homes. In the South East, the Regional Housing Board includes five members of the South East England Regional Assembly (SEERA) as well as board members from English Partnerships, the Housing Corporation, South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) and the Government Office for the South East (GOSE).
