The Vale Housing Association and Sovereign Housing Group have announced they are in talks to create an alliance that will deliver stock rationalization and better services to residents in Oxfordshire.

The proposed new alliance would generate savings through economies of scale to add extra frontline services and maximize funding opportunities to boost social housing build-rates in one of the highest-priced housing markets outside London.

The move will ensure that Sovereign Housing Group will be able to provide The Vale with support on Development, Finance and central support services, so that Vale can focus on providing excellent locally-based services.

Vale Chief Executive Mike Roberts said: “ There's a lot of consolidation in the sector, and many landlords of our size are thinking hard about their future role and contribution. Joining with Sovereign allows us to remain close to our customers while helping us to access a bigger slice of funding, and to make the most of our assets.

Sovereign Group Chief Executive Ann Santry added: “We have been working together to deliver new homes for some time, and this alliance is an opportunity to make our relationship stronger and more effective. The Vale are doing an excellent job providing services to residents, with 95% of their residents happy with the services they receive.

“We hope that in time to consolidate our Oxfordshire stock under the Vale brand, which provides greater scope for more effective neighbourhood management.”
