Joined-up thinking to help develop affordable homes in the West     


Four Housing Associations in the West of England have joined forces with four Local Authorities to help each other meet the challenges faced in providing affordable housing. Together they now make up the HomesWest Partnership.

The Local Authorities of Bath & North East Somerset, Bristol, South Gloucestershire, and North Somerset, will provide strategic direction to the Partnership, whilst the Housing Associations Knightstone, Sarsen, Somer Housing Group and Sovereign, will deliver the new affordable housing and share in good practice.

The Partnership will increase the supply of affordable homes and offer a wider choice of housing to people who cannot afford full open market housing. Its objectives are to improve quality reduce costs and speed up the process of building new homes.

The Partnership was officially signed on Wednesday 25 th January, paving the way for a joined up approach to meeting the affordable housing needs of people in the region.

Ann Santry, Chair of the HomesWest Partnership Board said :

“This partnership is a very positive step and has such great potential to increase the opportunities for people in need of affordable housing in the West of England area.”

Wendy Murphy, Head of Service, Neighbourhood and Housing Services at Bristol City Council said:

“The Local Authorities are delighted that the four Housing Associations are working with us to meet the very pressing need for more affordable housing, and we are confident we will see a real difference arising from this. “
