Parents hunt down low cost homes for children

Sovereign Housing Group is on the home straight of a stunning new development of affordable and private homes in Lympstone, East Devon.

Working alongside Cavanna Homes, Sovereign is delivering 21 affordable homes on the 52-home development, called St Mary's Meadow in Trafalgar Road, in a deal worth £2.2m.

Arranged around a cul-de-sac on a plot of land formerly used as the grounds of a large period house, Sovereign and Cavanna worked with the parish council to ensure that Lympstone people got first refusal.

Development Manager Carey Pill said: "The affordable homes are built to the same high-specification as the private properties, so it's great that we've been able to make a contribution in reducing the waiting list in Lympstone by working with such a quality developer as Cavanna."

St Mary's Meadow is due to complete in February 2008, and will provide eight homes for rent and 13 to part-buy part-rent. The 15 houses and six apartments all have their own parking, with some properties having two.

Sovereign has worked with Cavanna in providing affordable homes in Torquay, Chudleigh and Teignmouth, but with quick train links to Exeter, the marketing team is finding the Lympstone part-buy part-rent properties of strong interest to people with local connections who work further afield.
