The writing’s on the wall for Greenham kids

Kids will be gathering in Greenham this weekend to daub graffiti on a wall. But organisers say don’t be alarmed – it’s all part of the latest youth initiative!

Youth workers from West Berkshire Council have teamed up with Sovereign Housing Association to collect ideas for activities from the hundreds of 8-15 year olds on the Pigeons Farm and Nightingales estates. All ideas will be collected on a “graffiti” wall, with the most popular hopefully turned into reality.

With a free hotdog on offer, children will also have chance to chat to police, the fire brigade (plus engine), neighbourhood wardens, or youth workers about life in Greenham.

Sovereign’s Neighbourhood Warden Manager Andrew Cooch added: “We’re seeing real improvements on these two estates, and this next stage should provide us with a better picture of what we can realistically achieve.”

The event runs from 11-3 on Saturday March 4 at the Baseball Diamond, Pigeons’ Farm estate.
